Avoid jetlag or reset your waking time by fasting for 16 hours before breakfast

In the May 23 Science, Dr. Clifford Saper reports discovering a feeding clock which overrides our light clock - after a 16 hour fast followed by breakfast. This lets animals reset their circadian rhythm when food is scarce, but is a great trick when traveling or changing your sleeping patterns. For example, to comfortably rise at 2 am, fast starting 10 am the previous day, then breakfast upon rising at 2. Similarly, when flying to Tokyo, figure out breakfast time there, and fast for 16 hours before that.
